It
is respect for life in all its variety that will ensure the continued
vitality of our own species. Spots, stripes, scales, feathers, paws,
claws, leaf, tendril, bud, berry, vine-- Life is a wondrous continuum
that enchants, informs and supports all human endeavor. In this studio
retreat we'll take inspiration from mythology, biology, art history,
and personal history as we investigate the connections between our
natural surround and our selves.
Join us for six days considering the wild and the tame, as we explore
masks, puppets, paper theaters, shrines and shadow puppets. We will
mix and cross media working in cloth, wood, paper, metal and found
objects. Technique includes carving, embossing, printing, painting,
stitching and papier mache as we court mermaids, mice and Minotaurs
in our Noah's ark of possibilities.
Sessions includes slides, films, examples and hands on demonstrations.
$635 includes lab fee, 5 extravagant, healthy lunches, 2 sumptuous
dinners, and daily lavish snacks.
* Special bonus: Last session ends just in time for the Route 90 weekend
of 50 miles of garage sales!
