Passion, Patience and Persistance in the evolution of the artist self

JULY 6 - 11, 2008 NEW SESSION
JULY 20 - 25, 2008* FULL
Set aside this week to explore sets and series in the Oiseaux Studios North in Moravia, New York.
Select subject matter, choose formats and sample techniques for your work.

We’ll discuss strategies for continuity, mechanisms for change, and the contribution of observation, appropriation and invention in the evolution of a body of work.

Issues of scale, installation and presentation will be explored.

Painting, drawing, surface design, altered books, boxes, cards, and flags are all possibilities.
You may focus on one technique and/or format in depth, or sample and mix your media.
Our well equipped studios are set up for working with wood, paint, metal and papier mache.
We offer technique demos and individual problem solving.

Together we will explore where ideas come from, and how artists' personal visual vocabulary evolves into a body of work across time and space.

Susan Dollmaker Andrews and Carolyn Rose Fellman

The Oiseaux Sisters are two mixed-media artists whose work incorporates humor, movement and metaphor. The materials they use include paper, tin, clay, cloth, carved and painted wood, and found objects. They have created a series of figurative, often biographical or mythological figures/ cupboards which range from small to larger than life size as well as many other figurative pieces which tell stories. The Oiseaux Sisters have made and marketed one of a kind craft as well as exhibiting in many solo and group shows around the country. We invite you to visit them at their upcoming events.
