A Weekend in the Oiseaux Sisters' Gulfport Studio
The Mind's Eye, The Hands' Work, The Heart's Desire

Join us at Oiseaux South, our Gulfport studio
for a weekend of mixed media paper play.

We’ll play out ideas in a variety of formats: manipulating paper with cuts and folds, finding imagery from our own archives of collections, generating imagery with stencils, printing and painting, arranging and rearranging objects. Emphasis will be on techniques that afford immediacy and sustain momentum.

Materials and Techniques will include paste paints, mediums and textures, stenciling, rubbing, folding and experimenting with good range of different marking materials. We may use collage to create some simple portable and nomadic ways of working in paper—books, pop ups, cards, portfolios.
Our artist explorations start on Friday evening with a wealth of images to inspire you. Saturday and Sunday we'll submerse ourselves in hands on studio explorations, arranging and rearranging our layers of elements. Slides, examples, demonstrations and hands on practice. Sessions combine one on one and small group coaching with class exercises and critiques. Participants will be provided with a "must bring" and "optional" supply list upon registration.

GULFPORT FLORIDA
Our winter studios are in Gulfport Florida, a charming village, surrounded by St. Petersburg on the edge of Tampa Bay. Our town is pedestrian friendly and home to many working artists. Our lively main street, Beach Boulevard, is lined with modest 1920s cottages. It begins in a long parkway and ends in a small commercial area with good restaurants, interesting shops and antique stores and a vintage dance casino right on the shore of Boca Ciega Bay. St. Petersburg and it's beautiful waterfront downtown area has a very vital and lively art scene with many museums, art centers and galleries just a short drive from Gulfport.
Registration and Deposit: Classes are limited to 10 students to insure a productive workshop experience. Early registration is recommended.
A $150 deposit must accompany your registration. Balance is due when you arrive for class. Lab fee, Friday Slide talk and meals are included. Light snacks and beverages will be provided throughout the weekend.
Cancellation and Refund Policy: If you must withdraw from a class and do so before January 15th, 2013 we will refund your deposit less a $25 processing fee. If you withdraw later than January 15th, 2013 your deposit is nonrefundable. |
